Sphere on Spiral Stairs

Fronted by the captivating Jacob Ambrose (vocals/guitar), Simon Carey (Bass) and Bill Wilkes (Drums)

The band fuses raw rock grit with reggae-infused grooves, storytelling lyrics about passion, resistance, and real-life tales from the edge of the world. Tracks like "Fat Cat Back Scratch," "Mucho Deniro," and "Monsoon" showcase their signature blend—think electrifying rhythms, memorable hooks, and that unmistakable Southland soul.

This three-piece reggae-rock outfit has been quietly grinding in Southland’s dive bars and DIY haunts. Their self-titled debut album cuts through like a Bluff oyster knife: raw, flavorful, and unapologetically local. It’s a Molotov cocktail of groove, grit, and defiance.

Genreless with no rules, they fuse rock, reggae, blues, and metal into something entirely their own. Blending dark humour and crushing reality with warm masculine melodies, bouncy hard rock nostalgia, pop-punk energy, and country rock swagger.

“ Ronnie Stash & The Resistance is a sign that independent music thrives in the provinces and that there are people out there who can hold their heads up and foot it with the best.” —13th Floor

“A collision of styles that shouldn’t work as seamlessly as they do… a record that breathes, lurches, and swings with a kind of unfiltered urgency that’s increasingly rare.” — The Pier

“There’s rock, reggae, blues, metal all mashed together into something that somehow works. Lyrically they blend dark humour, a bit of grit, some warmth in there too. It’s a bit like loaded fries – chaotic, slightly overwhelming but an awesome flavour.” — Music nz
